World's Longest Yard Sale is Here Again!

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I posted but I wanted to let everyone know that it is that time of year again, for the World's Longest Yard Sale.    It runs from Michigan to Alabama on Highway 127.  I will be in Danville, Kentucky just about 3 miles south of Highway 150 and 127 on the right hand side at Bonta Lane and Hwy 127.    I have met many wonderful people over the years, including some customers, some bloggers and designers.  I look forward to this every year and I hope to see some of you there.  I took some pictures of some of the items that I will have but I had a camera malfunction so I have a limited number of pictures, but lots of items to sell.   Pictures of past sales are here.  If you would like more information regarding the sale, here is the official website.

Here are some tips if you are planning to come:
1.  Bring cash, most vendors do not take credit or debit cards.
2.  Wear cool comfortable clothing and shoes.  It sometimes gets pretty warm in the afternoons.
3.  Make sure you have room for the treasures that you will buy.  I noticed that a lot of people bring pick-up trucks and trailers, and vans so they can take their treasures home.
4.  It's a good idea to bring some Wal-Mart bags, boxes and maybe some bubble wrap in case you buy glassware or breakable items.
5.  Start early.  My booth usually has people as early as 7:30 a.m.
6.  Be cautious along the highway and don't get in a hurry.  Traffic can sometimes slow down at major vendor stops.
7.   A bottle of hand sanitizer is a good idea.
8.   A cooler with water is a good idea if you have room but there are plenty of places to eat and drink along the way.
9.  If you are traveling, make reservations ahead of time because the motels usually fill up.
10.  Bathrooms are in short supply, although there are usually Port-a-Potties at major vendor stops.   You might want to consider that when you plan your stops.
11.  Bring your friends with you.  I have had many ladies' groups come by my booth and they have a great time.
12.  Lastly, don't forget to haggle.  Most vendors expect it!

There you have it.  I hope to see you there.

Here are some of the items that I will have there.  I have a lot more but, my camera malfunctioned again.!

Thank you for visiting.  I appreciate your comments.

Welcome to My Creative Space

Well friends, it's that time of year again and I so enjoyed participating in "Where Bloggers Create" over at My Desert Cottage last year so I thought I would join in again this year.  Thanks to Karen for hosting this event again this year.

If you want to see how my studio came about and what it was like last year, click here.  My husband is in the process of running a water line and installing a sink for me and I think he is going to build me a porch on the front.  Hopefully by next year?????   Stay tuned.

Not much has changed except it is probably a little messier because I am knee deep in painting my cake servers and other things that are in progress.  Come on in and take the little tour.  Please excuse the mess!   I sure would appreciate your comments and I hope to visit all of you who participate this year.

If you want to visit the rest of the participants in Where Bloggers Create 2014, click here.   See you around the tour!

This is the prettier side of the room where some of my work is displayed as well as my pretty teapots and such!

This lovely apron matches my teacup themed valances and was made by my friend  Annie of AnniegsAprons.

All Good Things Come to an End

Hello Lovlies,

Well I hate to say this but I am closing my website, Graceful Rose, at the end of this year.  I have just listed all of my merchandise on Craig's list and my local yard sale.  We have the house up for sale and we hope to move after the first of the year back my home town.   On top of that I will be retiring during all of this so although the Lord is closing one door, I know he will be opening another for me in my new place.  So for now I have much unfinished inventory to dispose of as I have very little time to paint now, as well as my completed inventory.  If anyone is interested in any of my items, I will sell them at yard sale prices, if you contact me by E-mail at   You can see my items on my website at Graceful Rose.  I hope to still hang around blog land and see what everyone is doing and will keep you all posted as to our progress.   I am unsure of the date as it all depends on Obamacare and what kind of insurance I can get.  He would chose the year I am supposed to retire to do all this.  Wouldn't ya know.  I am sure it will all work out.  Anyway, I appreciate your prayers as this a major life change for us.  Thanks for visiting.

Some of My Paintings

I was going through some old things and came across a picture of this painting that I donated to the Lincoln County, Kentucky Cancer Walk in Memory of my sister, Brenda.  Unfortunately, this picture was way before I had a blog and really didn't photograph my paintings very well.

This painting is called "Washday".   We have several Amish Communities near us and I love to see their farms.  They are such nice people.

Another painting of an Amish mother and child going into a general store.

Here is a picture of a ceiling  mural that I did in our last house.  It took me a while to do this but it was so pretty.  Not sure I could do it now.

Below are some paintings of churches that I did and donated for fund raisers.

This painting of my friend's yellow house was donated for cancer drive and was purchased by one of our local doctor's wives.

I am gearing up to do some more paintings and needed some inspiration and reminders that I once could paint and hopefully can do it again.

To see more of my paintings, visit my Pinterest Board.

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.
