Hand Painted Porcelalin for the 2012 Women's Show

Hello everyone! Once again I am participating in the Women's Show down in Nashville in April. Shabby Lane Shops is sponsoring a booth and since space is so limited and there are so many shops, I geared my items toward smaller things.  I usally paint really big things like cake servers, vintage mirrors and breadboxes but this time I painted lots of porcelain in the form of beautiful Victorian Style Necklaces, beaded key rings, small porcelain pins and hand painted porcelain bookmarks. I thought I would share with you. I would love to hear your comments on my new venture. I actually had to learn to make jewelry for this one but I love the way things turned out.

I Finally Finished my Painting

I have been working on this oil painting off and on (more off than on) for over a year (way over a year) and finally finished it. Most of my spare painting time is spent painting items for my website (Graceful Rose) and that leaves very little time to paint paintings which I really love to do. This year one of my resolutions was to work on more paintings. So without further ado, drum roll please . . . . Here is my lastest painting. It's called Pink Setee.

Dressform Ball.

Here is how this story goes. My friend Carol over at the Polka Dot Closet is having a dressform ball. Now Bertha is my dressform and she sits in the corner in my office where I work 8-10 hours a day on the computer. She looked the same as the day I brought her home. She never seemed to mind. She knew that one day I would find the time to fix her up. So I told her about the ball and I was going to try to get her fixed up so she could go. She was all excited, said she couldn't wait. So then the day came and nothing happened. So as I am working on the computer , in between reports, I check out Carol's Blog and oh boy, there are some gorgeous ladies all dressed in the finest attire. I knew that poor Bertha would never fit in. She didn't have a dress good enough to attend. We knew about this ball for weeks now but I didn't have time to find a dress for Bertha. So I'm looking at her and her feelings are hurt and she's all upset. She really wanted to go. So I set about trying to dress her up with what I had on hand. So, this is Bertha all decked out in her finery. I think she looks stunning and I told her so. I want to thank Carol for having this ball and for inviting us. I had so much fun dressing her up! What a blast! So Carol if you would, send the carriage for Bertha for she is ready to go.

Bertha has a pretty bunch of red roses for her hostess.

The dress is one of ecru lace with beautiful lace long sleeves and a victorian collar.



She has lace and pearls and a beautiful red rose and a pretty gold and pearl pin.





I hope Bertha has a good time!

I can't believe how fast time goes. Christmas in the Kitchen

I have been working here and there on my decorations. I'm not done yet, I still have to do the mantle and a few other things which I will post later.  For now I thought I would post some of my kitchen decorations.

Some more Santas, I snagged the big on on the left at the Goodwill for $3.00.

I decorated the tops of my cabinets with garland and lights with bottle brush trees and little houses. 

A little Christmas cheer on the counter top with yet another Santa and a collander full of my hand painted ornaments

I got this collander at the G.W. again for $1.50 just last week.  Perfect for holding my hand painted ornaments.

Last but not least, my little white tree with pink lights and silver and pink ornaments.
