I can't believe how fast time goes. I just realized I haven't had a blog post since Christmas. I have been busy working on new items and have some to share with you. Christmas in the Kitchen

I have been working here and there on my decorations. I'm not done yet, I still have to do the mantle and a few other things which I will post later. For now I thought I would post some of my kitchen decorations.

My buffet with some of my Santas and little trees with pink lights and garland.

Some more Santas, I snagged the big on on the left at the Goodwill for $3.00.

I decorated the tops of my cabinets with garland and lights with bottle brush trees and little houses.

I got this collander at the G.W. again for $1.50 just last week. Perfect for holding my hand painted ornaments.

I remember so clearly I was working at the computer as I do every day. My office was right off of the kitchen. My husband was putting on his shoes watching Good Morning America as he did every morning. He said in very calm voice they've hit the world trade center. I got up and came out to the kitchen and saw where the first plane had hit and stood there in disbelief and then watched the second plane hit. I couldn't believe my eyes. Then all the things took place in the next few hours and days. My children called and we cried together, praying for all of our loved ones to be saved. I remember how people grew closer together, went to church and prayed. We grew closer to God. I remember that. Then time goes on and people get back to our old routines. I pray that it does not take another enormous tragedy to bring us all back to God.

Cottage Colors Party Orange

It's time for Esty Cottage Colors. This month the color is orange. Please visit the

Etsy Cottage Colors party to see all the participants.

As I started going through my pictures looking for something orange I only thought of one painting I did which was this oil painting of peaches.

But then I thought, the bricks in this painting below are sort of orange so I am sharing this oil painting I did of this beautiful Greek Revival House.

There is quite a story behind this painting that I will
never forget. It was sold to the owner of this house who, by the way,
I never knew before I painted it. It is a large oil painting and of course the bricks
are sort of orange in color.

This was a watercolor of a row house that I did with orange tones.
It too, sold at one of my craft shows.

This is a painting of our barn where we used to live, the only color in this painting is the orange rust on the old tin building and the tractor. This painting has a special meaning to me. When my sister had cancer and I was taking care of her, the Hospice nurse that came to our house fell in love with this painting and had to have it.

This is a painting of the church I used to attend.
I donated it for a fund raiser to build a new church.

Oh my,when I saw this week's color was yellow, I thought, my whole house is pink and green, a little blue here and a little purple there but no yellow, but I went around with my camera and found more yellow than I thought. We have moved into our brand new bedroom that hubby built over the new kitchen. We have only been in there a week or so and I am still in the process of decorating it. Maybe you all could give me some ideas. It seems that in the new bedroom, the whole theme is yellow. I was trying not to pink my hubby out of the house since most of the house has pink and green. So here are my pictures. I hope you enjoy and thank you for visiting. I look forward to your comments. Oh, I almost forgot, we live in a little yellow cottage!

Cottage Colors Party Pink!!

Hello sweet blog friends. It's time for the April Cottage Colors Party and this month the color is pink. I am always saying I want to join this party so today I am actually doing it. I have tons of pink so I will be selective so as not to overwhelm you all.

This is my hutch in my kitchen with lots of pink.

My favorite cake plate that I will never part with.

I absolutely love the pink Tea Time Fabric and painted a cake carrier on the same theme.

My pink peonies last year.

I was hoping to find one of these glass jars and my daughter surprised me with one for Christmas. She filled it with pink ornaments and a pink tassle. I just love it.

I have this pink faux cake sitting in my all pink and white kitchen. I need to make some more of these.

Oh my, I never in my wildest dreams ever though I would have over 100 followers but now I actually have 102 followers! I am thrilled to say the least. I don't get to blog much, I really never thought I had anything interesting to say but I want you all to know that I follow many blogs and read them often! I am so inspired by so many wonderful ladies and I intend to step out and blog more whenever I can. I plan to have a give away very soon for my fellow bloggers. I am busy right now preparing for the Women's show in April so I'm painting daily trying to get caught up. After that I thought I would have an Easter/Spring kind of giveaway. I also am ready to fix up my new studio that my husband built for me. It's all empty now but I plan to show all the progress and hopefully get some great ideas as to how to fix it up. I have several old pieces that I need to paint to put in my studio. I kind of want to make part of it a little shop where people can come and see my painted items. I get calls now asking when my shop is open and (lol) I don't have one just yet, but I'm working on it. Hope this summer to make more progress. It's freezing here in Kentucky today, I think it might snow, brrrrr.

I am planning on trying to join the Teacup Tuesday bloggers and post some about teacups and teapots as that is one of my favorite things. I actually bought tea fabric to make little valances for my studio and painted a cake carrier to match the tea fabric. I'll post a picture later on.

Cottage Color Party - Purple

I missed the blue party so I am going to join in the purple party. I love the color purple and have a few items to share with you.

This is my bookcase in my living room and one whole shelf is devoted to purple items. A beautiful lavender colored plate that was a gift from a friend, my purple pansy teapot that was a gift from my husband with a teacup and saucer to match, a cake plate that I painted to match and a little teapot with a tiny tea setting on top and a little purple jar that was another gift.

About a week ago I got an E-mail from Gail over at the Sassy Beach saying I had won her giveaway and the prize was a $25.00 gift certificate to "The Sassy Beach". This is a sneak preview of the my contribution to the new Shabby Lane Shops Magazine. It tells about all the houses my husband and I have fixed up over the years. We are still working on our little yellow cottage but we like it and it suits us perfectly for our retirement. Dreaming of a Pink and White Christmas

I have been visiting so many blogs and have seen such beautiful Christmas decorations and ideas. I must admit that this year I have pared down my decorating a bit, however, I just had a gentleman leave my house who told my husband that I have too much stuff. Can you imagine having too much stuff? Just because I am in the middle of wrapping presents, sending cards, baking cookies and cooking and I must admit I do have a lot on my plate. Not only that but every surface is covered with my Christmas Village and my bottle brush display on top of my cabinets. My daughter just about has OCD over having a Christmas tree and presents in her living room, she would croak if she saw my house. (She lives 3 hours away) so hasn't seen it in a little while. I must tell you that even when it isn't Christmas, I have a lot of stuff, not junk, mind you, pretty teapots and things and plates on the walls and, you know, decorations. Anyway I digress, here are some pictures of my feeble attempts at decorating. Mostly pink and white but I must admit I have a green tree in my living room, however, it is decorated with pink and white ornaments and pink roses and white lights, so it falls into the pink and white category.

I have always loved this litle pink and white sleigh arrangement. It sits on my kitchen counter.

One of my favorite ornaments, a pink chair. My sister in law found several Victorian pink ornaments for me one year after Christmas. Then I misplaced them for a couple of years and was so thrilled to find them again. They are my favorites.

I thought I would share some of my Christmas decorating with you. I have visited so many blogs and have seen such wonderful decorations. Mine are quite meager compared to others but thought I would share anyway. This is the outside of the house. I will share more of the inside later.

As usual I am a little late in posting, I have a lot going on since we started our auction back and also work full time on my day job. I wanted to post about what I am thankful for today. I am so very thankful for my Lord Jesus who died for my sins so that I can be free. What a wonderful life He has given me. Each day is a new blessing and I never know what wonderful things lie in store. I am thankful for the courage to step out and do things I never thought possible. I am thankful for our freedom in this country and those military families who sacrifice so that we can be free. I am thankful for my wonderful husband, Leo, of 21 years, who is so good who takes care of my every need. I am looking forward to many more years together. I am thankful for the gift of laughter that rings in my house all the time. I am thankful for a peaceful home. I am thankful for my two beautiful daughters and my 8 grandchildren. They always give me something to look forward to. I am proud of both of them and the fine young women they have become even though we may have had a rough start when I was a single Mom for so many years. I am thankful for my website and the many friendships I have made over the last two years and the new friends I am making as I venture out into blogland. I love reading the many blogs that I follow and am so inspired by the friendship, talent and willingness to share of the people I have met through blogging. I never feel like I have anything worth sharing so I guess I don't blog as much, I am always behind on painting and decorating but eventually I will get there. I hope to share more in the future. Hello everyone. I haven't been blogging much lately because we are remodeling again. We go in spurts. We work awhile and then do something else but now we starting to work again. I have a new bedroom that I will be decorating so stay tuned for before and after pictures. If you have any wonderful decorating ideas for a bedrooom, please let me know. I have dark furniture and my DH won't let me paint it white. So can I still make it romantic?

Hello everyone. I wanted to share with you my exciting news! I won a fabulous blog giveaway from Mandii Weir at Shabby Vintage Dreams! I could hardly wait for it to arrive all the way from Australia. It took a while but I finally got it. It came wrapped in pretty pink paper with a pretty pink ribbon. Remembering 911

Hello everyone! Today is a somber day in American History. What a tragedy took place on that day, a sight I will never forget. The most beautiful blue skies and that black smoke and those buildings burning. I hope we remember what was lost and pray for those who lost loved ones that day and the ordinary people who became heroes by their extraordinary courage. I remember how people put out their flags and went back to church and prayed but only for a while. I am praying for my country daily. I am so convinced that if people would turn back to God, He would save our country. This year, the memory of this event has impacted me more than before. I wonder if it is because our country and our freedom are more in danger than ever before. I hope you will join me in praying for those who died in 911 and for our country.

World's Longest Yard Sale is Coming Up!

Hello everyone! It's been a little bit since I blogged but I have been busy painting. New items to be listed soon. I am excited because next week is the world's longest yard sale! It starts Thursday August 5th and runs through Sunday, August 8th. It starts in Covington, Kentucky and goes all of the way to Alabama on highway 127. I hope you get a chance to come out and see all of the treasures that will abound on this once a year happening. I will be selling again this year and my spot is about 2 miles south of hwy 150 in Danville, Kentucky, on Bonta Lane. It is great fun and we meet so many nice people. I hope you get to be a part of it, either selling or shopping. That's the only bad thing about selling, not much chance to shop, but I manage to shop a little. I'll post some pictures after the sale.
